The Finnish Language School of Silicon Valley

The Finnish Language School of Silicon Valley is a non-profit language school for children 0 - 18 years of age. Our goal is to provide Finnish language-based activities to all students. We bring together children with Finnish heritage, or children who otherwise wish to learn Finnish, giving all students an experience of learning and communicating in Finnish as well as learning Finnish Culture.

Students are divided into groups based on their age and skill level:

• Music and movement group for children under three years
• Preschool curriculum based class for children from 3 to 6
• Children from 6 to 18 are following the curriculum used in the schools in Finland

The student body is multicultural, some children have recently moved to the Bay Area from Finland, and Finnish is their first language. Other children are born in the US, with English as their first language. Together they explore the Finnish language and culture to either maintain the language for the eventual return back to Finland, or learn the language to communicate with relatives or other Finnish speakers.
